Music Theory & Musicianship

Triplet Arts Institute offers comprehensive music theory instruction designed to support both ABRSM and RCM examination preparation, as well as to strengthen overall musicianship. Our theory program helps students develop a deeper understanding of rhythm, harmony, notation, and musical structure, enabling them to become more confident and independent musicians both in performance and in learning new repertoire.

      Our Theory Instructors

Our instructors work with students individually to build strong theoretical foundations in a clear and engaging way. Lessons combine structured exam preparation with practical musical application, helping students understand how theory connects directly to the music they play. Beginner and intermediate students will work on areas such as:

  • Music notation and rhythm reading

  • Scales, keys, and intervals

  • Chords and harmony

  • Musical terms and symbols

  • Ear training and basic analysis

      Our Theory Philosophy

We believe that music theory is not only for examinations, but an essential part of a complete musical education. A strong understanding of theory helps students learn repertoire more efficiently, develop stronger musical expression, and gain confidence in their musical making.

For younger students, theory concepts are naturally integrated into regular instrumental lessons, allowing learning to happen in a practical and musical context rather than as isolated academic study.
